Isobutane is a colorless and flammable gas at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure, slightly soluble in water and soluble in ethanol and diethyl ether, etc.
Main applications
Isobutane and n-butene is used to produce gasoline alkylate through alkylation reaction, which is characterized by high octane number, benzene & olefin free and low sulfur content;
Isobutane and propylene is used to produce epoxy propane and TBA (tert butyl alcohol) through common oxidization;
Isobutane is dehydrogenated to produce isobutene;
Isobutane is used to produce DMC (dimethyl carbonate) through a series of processes such as oxidization, etc;
Isobutane is used to produce methacrylonitrile or methacrylic acid through ammonia catalytic oxidization;
Furthermore, isobutane could be used to produce aerosol, accelerant, polypropylene polymerizer, polypropylene foaming agent and refrigerant, etc, among which the refrigerant is incrementally replacing Freon as an important freezing agent in such industries as refrigerator, air-conditioner, etc.
